Method
- Step 1: Drain the tofu and press it gently to remove excess moisture. This step is crucial for achieving that perfect crispiness!
- Step 2: Cut the tofu into 1-inch thick slices. You can also cut them into smaller pieces if you prefer bite-sized portions.
- Step 3: Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or frying pan over medium heat. You want enough oil to submerge the tofu slices halfway.
- Step 4: Carefully add the tofu slices to the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides, which should take about 3-4 minutes per side. Keep an eye on them; we want them perfectly crispy!
- Step 5: Remove the fried tofu from the oil and place it on paper towels to drain excess oil. This will keep them crispy!
- Step 6: If desired, you can marinate the fried tofu in a mixture of soy sauce, mirin, and dashi stock for added flavor. Let it soak for 10-15 minutes before serving for the best taste.
Notes
If you have any leftovers, store your fried tofu in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place them in the oven at 375°F for about 10 minutes to restore that crunchy texture.
