- Step 1: In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Step 2: Add the sliced onion and sauté until softened, about 3 minutes.
- Step 3: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Step 4: Increase the heat to high and add the sliced beef. Cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes.
- Step 5: Stir in the soy sauce, mirin, and sake. Cook for another 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Step 6: Remove from heat and fold in the chopped shiso leaves. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Step 7: Serve the beef mixture over cooked rice and garnish with sliced green onions if desired.
Notes
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat gently in the microwave or on the stovetop, adding a splash of water if needed to keep the rice moist.
