Method
 

  1. Step 1: Rinse your donabe with clean water to remove any dust or residue.
  2. Step 2: Fill the donabe with water, making sure it is three-quarters full.
  3. Step 3: Optionally, add a handful of rice or rice bran to the water.
  4. Step 4: Place the donabe on the stove over low heat and gradually bring the water to a simmer.
  5. Step 5: Let the donabe simmer for about 2 hours.
  6. Step 6: Turn off the heat and let the donabe cool down completely.
  7. Step 7: Once cooled, carefully empty the donabe and give it a rinse with water.
