Ingredients
  

For the Japanese Baked Sea Bream
  • 1 whole sea bream cleaned and scaled
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sake
  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 pieces green onions chopped
  • 1 piece ginger sliced
  • salt to taste
  • lemon wedges for serving
  • fresh herbs for garnish

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Step 2: Rinse the sea bream under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
  3. Step 3: Make diagonal slits on both sides of the fish to allow for better seasoning and cooking.
  4. Step 4: In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, sake, mirin, and sesame oil.
  5. Step 5: Rub the mixture over the fish, ensuring it gets into the slits and cavity.
  6. Step 6: Stuff the cavity of the fish with sliced ginger and chopped green onions.
  7. Step 7: Place the fish on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Step 8: Sprinkle salt over the fish to taste.
  9. Step 9: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  10. Step 10: Serve hot with lemon wedges and garnish with fresh herbs.

Notes

If you have leftovers, refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat gently in the oven or microwave.
