Method
- Step 1: Start by heating the water to a cozy temperature of about 160°F to 180°F (70°C to 80°C). Just remember, no boiling!
- Step 2: While the water is warming, place your green tea leaves or tea bag in your favorite teapot or cup.
- Step 3: Once the water is ready, pour it gently over the leaves or tea bag.
- Step 4: Let it steep for 2 to 3 minutes. If you like a stronger flavor, you can steep it a bit longer.
- Step 5: After steeping, remove the tea leaves or tea bag. You can use a strainer if you used loose leaves.
- Step 6: If you’re feeling fancy, add a touch of sweetener or a slice of lemon to elevate your tea experience. Then, enjoy your homemade Japanese green tea!
Notes
If you have leftover brewed green tea, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. However, enjoy it fresh for the best flavor.
