Method
 

  1. Step 1: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper.
  2. Step 2: In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and butter together over a pot of simmering water. Stir until smooth, then remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. Step 3: In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar and eggs until pale and fluffy. Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, stirring until well combined.
  4. Step 4: Sift together the flour, matcha powder, baking powder, and salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  5. Step 5: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  6. Step 6: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
