- Step 1: If you're using fresh bamboo shoots, start by peeling and slicing them into thin strips. If you're going the canned route, just drain and rinse them under cold water.
- Step 2: In a medium saucepan, combine the soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, sesame oil, and sliced ginger.
- Step 3: Add the bamboo shoots to the saucepan, and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Step 4: Cover the saucepan and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Step 5: Once done, remove from heat and let it cool a bit before serving.
Notes
You can store the cooked Menma in the fridge for a few days. Consider freezing it for longer storage.
